Dear Naples Classical Academy Families,
This Fourth of July marks the beginning of America’s Semiquincentennial, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Milestones like this remind us why knowledge of history matters. At NCA, our scholars study the Declaration of Independence as a primary historical document but also for the example of courage and perseverance it demonstrates in those who believed liberty, self-government, and inalienable rights were worth defending. Those ideals have shaped our nation for nearly 250 years, and they continue to challenge the next generation to carry on the legacy.
It is our duty to help our young people understand both our nation’s history and the importance of preserving the principles on which it was founded. By choosing an education at NCA, your family has become part of that important work. Our mission and curriculum intentionally focus on cultivating civic virtue, encouraging scholars to develop the knowledge, character, and sense of responsibility needed to strengthen our nation for generations to come.
As you celebrate the traditions of the Fourth of July, I encourage you to take a few moments to reflect with your scholars on the blessings of living in a free nation and the responsibility we all share to preserve that freedom.
We’d also love to see how your family celebrates! Please share your favorite family-friendly photos from your Fourth of July festivities by emailing them to info@naplesclassical.org by Wednesday, July 8. We’ll share a selection of the submissions on our school’s social media pages to showcase our community’s patriotic spirit.
On behalf of the entire NCA faculty and staff, we wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July!
Sincerely,
Sherry D’Agostino, M.Ed.
